Using our very own copper and green logo as inspiration, we paired it with opulent marsala to bring some luscious, deep and dark tones to our table. A romantic mood created by an abundance of flowers and greenery complimented by the décor for a quintessential combination of elegance and indulgence.
Knowing the surroundings we were going to be in during the photo shoot, we set out to find a dress that would match it. This meant finding something unembellished yet elegant.
Our table décor, floral arrangements and colour scheme were all quite bold and daring and full of detail. We needed a dress that would offset all these elements without disappearing in them. This meant only one thing. Add contrast.
Best Man Suit Hire supplied Tyron's suit. Navy was always on the back burner as an accent colour and when Samantha suggested the navy suit and Tyron went for his fitting, there was just a resounding yes all around as this also allowed us to bring navy into the table décor as an accent.
With our desire to showcase our suppliers, we had a meeting with Kelly Meiring to discuss our ideas and colour scheme and gave her free reign to come up with something exceptional. She did not disappoint. Anré Erasmus contrasted Shaziah's bold make-up with regal soft curls and it worked exceptionally well with her striking features.
The Juniper Event & Styling Co supplied all our décor for the table. As a new décor supplier to East London, this was the perfect opportunity for Nicky to showcase what she has install for us.
From slate under plates to copper cutlery and hanging lanterns, Nicky brought our whole theme together beautifully and went out of her way to supply everything our hearts desired.
Sarah made an exquisite floral arrangement for the chandelier above our table filled with lush greenery and marsala coloured flowers and sighs of relief when the chandelier held the weight of the flowers!
She added in orchids to our table arrangement that added to the luxurious mood we were creating. Her attention to detail was astounding and no leaf was left untouched and together with Nicky, the two of them blew all our expectations out of the water.
It would not be a wedding without a cake!
Ours was made by Daena from Mad Batter - a rich vanilla naked cake adorned with beautifully coloured caramel syrup and arrangement of fruits to tie in with our theme. We loved her little logo on the cake board!
When working with such a bold theme, it is important to add just a smidge of contrast here and there to accentuate all the details - contrast in both colours and textures worked very well here.
It is important to discuss your ideas with all your wedding suppliers and use their input to make your final decision.
None of this would have been possible without use consulting with them.
What better way to show you what they are capable of than showcasing their work in action!
For our first blog post, we bring you a styled wedding collaboration from only some of our favourite wedding suppliers. So go make yourself some coffee, kick back and enjoy the photos!
Together with Sarah from Sarah May - Fine Art Florals & Styling and Nicky from The Juniper Event Hire & Styling Co the mood was set. Sarah went out of her way to source marsala coloured flowers amidst one of the worst droughts South Africa has experienced.
The marsala coloured hydrangeas (which we did not even know existed), beautiful snapdragons, carnations and black bacarra roses were contrasted well by the soft coloured blushing bride protea.
We approached Mandy from Lady Marmalaide East London with our ideas and theme and she immediately recommended the Blanca dress from the Le Papillon 2018 range. The soft ivory colour of the dress worked well with our colour scheme, instead of having a stark white dress.
The amount of lace detail in the dress was just enough to add that bit of grandeur that complimented our whole theme so well.
Nicky is also the creative behind Fine Blue Line who supplied all our stationery requirements. Beautiful watercolour flowers adorned our stationery and the copper foiling added the richness we were looking for.
